Nip, Tuck, Snip, and Stitch

Becoming a Christian isn’t something you should take lightly. In fact, I would say it’s one of the most serious life decisions you could ever make.

The faith journey is one where you are constantly building muscles of growth as you practice living out the Word of God. This can be every exhausting and often painful.

Although the journey is difficult, God’s goal is to help you reflect the image of Christ. There is a purpose to all this madness we experience and don’t understand. God is in the process of doing a major reconstructive surgery on you.

Think of what humans go through when they have plastic surgery. People tuck their chin, get eye lifts, cheek lifts, Botox for their lips, face implants, and things like permanent tattoo eyeliner and eyebrows. By the time they are done, they don’t even look like the same person.

That’s what takes place when God begins to remove your wrinkles, extra skin, and the ugly parts so he can transform you into the beautiful image of who you were created to be.

That sometimes hurts and, quite frankly, costs a lot. Be prepared!!! This is not for the faint of heart.

Here are some scriptures that we, as born again believers, are instructed to obey. It’s not easy and, without Jesus, it’s near impossible. But, we are supposed to be “doers of the Word.”

This is were the rubber meets the road.

Proverbs 12:16b, “A prudent man ignores an insult.”

Romans 12:21, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Luke 6:28, “Bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.”

Psalm 37:3, “Trust the Lord and do good.”

There are many more instructions like these found in the Scriptures. Reading them and applying them is how we practice our faith. In the book of 1st John Chapter 3, John tells us to practice righteousness. This is how we become refined and begin to bear the image of our Savior Jesus Christ.

It’s making a choice to do it God’s way and trusting Him for the outcome. Let Him do the surgery on you. Is not easy my friend, but it is possible with God.
