Philippians 4:8

“Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8

Do you struggle with a negative spirit? Do you let your mind wander into despair? Do you think about immoral activities? Do you judge others in your mind? Have you allowed the Devil to use your mind as a playground of destruction?

First and foremost, you need to be honest with yourself and recognize where you are when it comes to your thought life. God can work with someone who is transparent. When you are mold-able He can shape you. Until you recognize your brokenness you won’t see a need to change.

Ask the Lord to make you aware of how you measure up to Paul’s instruction. Ask the Lord to bring to your remembrance those occasions where you have fallen short and then, repent. Take regular assessments throughout the day to see where your mind is leading you. Make an effort to work on your thoughts and get them in line with Scripture.

The Word of God says in Proverbs 23:7, “For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Your thinking leads you. Your thought life shapes you. What kind of woman do you want to be?

If you are depressed, I would bet that your thoughts are negative and discouraging. You have probably allowed your mind to create scenarios that may never happen. If you have had hard feelings for someone you don’t really know, I can assure you that you have allowed the opinion of others to bounce around your mind about them. If you struggle with forgiving someone you can rest assure it’s because you hold on to the wrong they have done by allowing it to be replayed in your mind.

Do you want deliverance? Do you want freedom? Do you want peace of mind? Are you willing to take the Word of God and walk in obedience?

Your freedom is just around the corner. Start getting your mind in line and start practicing the teaching of Paul.

I have studied this verse in the Greek and wrote out a prayer that might be helpful for you to pray. Please take the time to sit in God’s presence and win the battle of your mind.

Lord, I need your help. From now on I need to think, ponder, reason, and reckon on things that are true in fact, and dignified. May they be things that put me in a place prepared for worship. May they be things that are fair and impartial and just in your eyes. I want them to be things that You, my Father are pleased with. It is my desire that my thoughts be pleasing, acceptable and friendly towards you. I want to have my mind disposed to those things that are deserving of praise and are well reported of. When an inventory of my thoughts are made may they be full of goodness, virtue and upright thoughts. Help me to be instantly aware when my mind drifts into thoughts that are contrary to these patterns. I want to guard my mind with all diligence and to bring every thought captive under your Lordship and submitted to you. I realize that what a man thinks he become. I don’t want to become negative, defeated, or depressed. Help me to be honest about what has happened in my life but, to let it go and trust you to take care of it. Your word tells me not to worry about anything. You are a God who sees all and knows all and you are a just, fair and loving God. You guard and protect me from all evil. I am loved by you. Amen
