Today March 25, 2020 is temporary. The sun will rise and the sun will set and we will have a new day. Before you know it, it will be March 25, 2021. Time is fleeting and the Bible describes it like a vapor. James 4:14. Here today and gone tomorrow. We are currently facing a crisis in our nation. COVID 19 showed up, and panic and fear arrived with it. We began experiencing life in a different way. Schools, businesses, churches, restaurants, and life as usual shut down. People have stopped working, the markets are dropping and the economy is slowing down. We still don’t have all the answers or solutions.
I want to make you aware of something. When COVID 19 showed up with panic and fear so did God. The problem is that we have allowed ourselves to be distracted by the lies. Not the lies of government, media, those with high and lofty opinions, or even your own assessment. I’m talking about the lie of the enemy, the Devil.
Here is some truth for you to hope in. God has all the answers and the solution. God is not distracted by any politicians, news outlets, or wise guys who think themselves more highly than they ought! God is still sitting on the throne. He is still in charge, He sees all and knows all. Nothing has shocked Him or taken Him by surprise.
The things of this world have in many ways distracted God’s children for a long time. Nothing that has been taken away from us adds value to our walk with Christ. None of it is necessary for our salvation. None of it adds worth to our person-hood. You are who you are because of the value God places on you. Your worth is found in Christ alone. We spend so much time and energy on the material parts of our life when its character that counts.
Everything has been stripped away except our ability to connect and grow in our relationship with God and loving those who we are confined with. Loving God and loving others. Isn’t that what Jesus said is the greatest commandment?
God doesn’t care about your bank account, stock portfolio, position in the company, the home you own, the car you drive, or who you know. Not when it distracts you from being a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. The scripture says “what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?” Mark 8:36.
Stop worrying and put your trust in God. If God can heal and restore leprous skin, He can heal and restore the lungs of a COVID 19 patient. If God can spare His children from the plagues on the Egyptians, He can spare you from the COVID 19 virus. If God can bring Himself and others back to life after death, He can surely do more than you can ask or imagine.
Start picking up your Bible and reading what God has to say. Start taking time to sit in God’s presence and develop a prayer life. God wants to hear from you and He wants to speak to you. Start working on your spiritual life and let God take care of the natural. I promise you, He will do a better job than the President, the Governor, the politicians, and even you.
This too shall pass. Will you be better or bitter? Will you know God deeper? Will you have a stronger prayer life? Will you have a disciplined study time? Where your treasure is there your heart will be also. Matt. 6:21.
