Do Not Disturb

Are you protecting your intimacy with God?

Your time with the Lord is so important to the health of your spiritual well-being. Getting alone with God is the best way to develop that relationship. Making sure no one, or nothing, disturbs that time will be the best decision you can make.

Think about the relationships you currently have. How were those relationships fostered? Times of private conversation and personal dialogue were critical to getting to know and understanding one another, right?

The best way to accomplish that is to set aside time and opportunity. Then you must remove all distractions. Be purposeful about isolating yourself with God.

Be wise and do everything necessary to stop all outside penetration. Some very easy things you can do to ensure that this happens is to take account of the things that distract you. Then remove them.

Start by picking a place that is empty and quite. Do not allow your phone in the room or any location you choose if the ringer is on and you don’t have the self-control to leave it alone. Let your family, friends, or roommates know that they can not interrupt you for the time period you have chosen. Block the interference. Do not bring any items with you except your Bible, journal, and a pen.

Be creative and consider locations away from home. Jesus went away to pray on a mountain, in the desert, and in a garden. These are beautiful locations that you can be in isolation away from people, electronics, radios, t.v., and the noises of life.

The most important thing to remember is that your time with the Lord is sacred and you have the power to protect it. Create a mental sign or a physical sign that makes it clear you do not want to be disturbed. This will teach you and others to respect your time alone with God.

Start today. Go and get away with God.

  1. I love this I am struggling with staying faithful with my time out with god. My kids and husband are a big distraction. And life chores I forget god trumps them thank you for the reminder. Our day will go so much smoother if we just give him the first and best of our day!!

    1. Hi Tiff. Just remember to give God your first and best and he will multiply your lack. Believe me, if you don’t you have enough time for God that’s when you will need it most!
