The Temple Where He Dwells

Many of you might know the scripture, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, who you have received from God? You are not your own you were bought at a price, therefore glorify God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

But did you know that Paul gave a strong rebuke and warning to the church about their bodies as a temple?

“Do you not know that you are God’s Temple and that God’s spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s Temple, God will destroy him. For God’s Temple is Holy and you are that Temple.” 1 Corinthians 3:16, 17.

Wow! Now those are some powerful words. Apostle Paul was writing a letter correcting the church at Corinth because of the way that they were living. He was rebuking them for continuing to live in their flesh and for their worldly way of living. They were not treating servants of God well, they were arguing and fighting with each other, they were living in sexual immorality, and living lives of idolatry.

God has not changed. God is still calling us to live a life of holiness and purity. To walk in Love To honor those in authority.

It’s strange how we quote and memorize select scriptures. Some passages get preached more often than others. I know we share the parts that we like. The ones that make us feel good, encourage us, and build us up. However, the whole counsel of God is important. Lopsided teaching is like working out on only one side of your body.

Remember, “ALL scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete fully equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.

Hurts so good. Just helping you work that muscle a little harder. Your welcome!
